Brightspace Planning Tool Corona

Updated on

Tool for small-scale education

In order to gain insight for you as a teacher how many students you can expect on-campus and for how many students you have to offer an alternative form of online education (because of Corona reasons: Corona check, entry problems of international students, risk groups), a planning tool will be integrated in your Brightspace course environment. The tool is mainly intended for small-scale education (mainly working groups).

Sign-on and sign-off tool

In order to get an oversight of how many students you can physically expect in your classroom, an sign-off and sign-on tool will be integrated in your course. In this way it will be easy for you as a teacher to see how many students wont be able to come due to Corona reasons. You can find the planning tool on the homepage of your Brightspace course environment.

How will the tool appear in Brightspace?

You may find that the Brightspace Planning Tool is at the bottom within course content. You can move the module to the desired place, e.g. at the very top of your course.

The tool will be integrated as a survey in all Brightspace course environments by the Brightspace-supportteam. As a teacher you won’t have to do anything for that. A Dutch and English version will be integrated which both be still on ‘hidden’. As a teacher you need to make the version visible which is applicable for your course manually.

How can I make the tool visible?

By default, the tool is hidden. Navigate through content to the Planning Tool and click the button next to "Hidden" in order to make it visible to your students. The text next to the eye icon (Hidden/Visible) is the current status of the content.

How can I see the results of the tool?

In general there are two ways to view the results of the Brightspace Planning Tool. You can review the standard results within Survey Statistics, or use Survey Reports in case you want to create a custom overview or export the results.

Via Survey Statistics: View standard results

Via Survey Statistics you are able to see the results on a student level by looking into indivual attempts. You are also able to see an overall results summary in one glance.
