This article will explain how you can delete a grade item from your Gradebook that is associated to an External Learning Tool.
Please note this will also DELETE the External Learning Tool link. If your only goal is to not show the grade item to students, opt for Hide Grade item for users.
How do I recognize Grade items associated to an External Learning Tool?
As you can see in the image above, we have 1 grade item in our course that is associated to an External Learning Tool. I won't be able to delete this grade item, until I delete the associated link first.
Recommended: Option 1 - Remove the link from course content
The most easy way is to remove the External Learning Tool link from your course content. Provided that you know where it is and it is NOT placed as a quick link in a HTML file. If not, please see Option 2 - Remove the link from Course Admin > External Learning Tools.
- Navigate to Content > Unit/Lesson/Folder your External Learning Tool link is placed.
- Click on the 3 dots
- Click on Delete
Select the Permanently delete both the topic from Content and the associated file or activity from the course and click on Delete.
Next go to Manage Grades and now you can delete the specific grade item!
Option 2 - Remove the link from Course Admin > External Learning Tools
Please note that this method can result in broken links if the External Learning Tool link is in fact somewhere in your course content. Broken links may result in various other problems. Proceed with caution, when in doubt please contact Brightspace Support to help you out!
First, click on Course Tools > Course Admin and next click on External Learning Tools.
Pin point the External Learning Tool link you want to remove, click on the arrow and click on Delete. In the pop up screen click again on Delete.
Next go to Manage Grades and now you can delete the specific grade item!
