How do I use Wooclap in Powerpoint?

Updated on

This article explains how you can integrate Wooclap directly into a PowerPoint presentation.

We strongly recommend to use the online version of PowerPoint if you want to add Wooclap. It works a lot better than on the desktop applications.

Please see the FAQ for most common asked questions and issues.

Install the add-in

Below we've described how you can add the Wooclap add-in to your Powerpoint. Please note you only need to do this once per device / powerpoint version!

Select the event of which you want to add questions in your PowerPoint presentation. Please pay attention to the Quick tip and only add questions from the same event.

Presentation1.pptx - Google Chrome

Please see the tip from Wooclap as well, and duplicate the slide before selecting your question.

After you have selected a question, there is unfortunately no way to edit that Wooclap slide, e.g. pick another question. You can always add Wooclap to a new slide and start over, but that is more cumbersome.

Select your question and it will be immediately added to PowerPoint. If you duplicated the slide, you can select another question in the next slide and so on.

Forgot to duplicate the slide? No worries, you can add Wooclap again in a few quick steps:

  1. Insert a new slide
  2. Click on File

Click on Wooclap and you're ready to go!

FAQ

See the Wooclap knowledge base for more information on How to use Wooclap in PowerPoint?

Q: I am able to login, but do not see my events
A:
It could be the case that in the past you've created a local account in Wooclap and that you are not yet using your University account. Please check if you logged in with the same account as in https://app.wooclap.com/home.

Presentation1.pptx - Google Chrome

In PowerPoint you can see your email address in the bottom right corner, next to the "log out" icon. In Wooclap you can see your email address in the drop down menu under your name. Those email addresses, should be the same. If they are not, you are not logged in with the same account.

To gain access to your Wooclap events in PowerPoint, you can try to login with a different account, but the most convenient way is to add your email address that shows up in the PowerpPoint as a collaborator to your own events in Wooclap. See here how you can do that.

Q: I get an error "Cannot connect to catalog", while trying to add the Wooclap add-in to PowerPoint.
A:

  • Alle students and employees of Universiteit Leiden: There might be a connection problem with your version of PowerPoint. Please consult the ISSC Helpdesk via this form and make sure to include a screen shot of the error.
  • Employees LUMC: There may be a connection problem with your version of PowerPoint. Please contact the local LUMC IT helpdesk. ISSC Helpdesk cannot help you since LUMC has a different Microsoft Office environment.

Q: The screen remains white after I login in Wooclap via PowerPoint
A:
Please note it might take some time to load your data. Do you feel like you have waited long enough? Close your presentation and re-open it.

Q: I cannot find or add Wooclap under Get Add-Ins
A: Wooclap is not compatible with every version of PowerPoint, please make sure that you have a supported version of Wooclap. See Compatibility for more information.

  • Employees LUMC: It could be the case that the add-in has not (yet) made available to you. Please contact the local LUMC IT helpdesk. ISSC Helpdesk cannot help you since LUMC has a different Microsoft Office environment.

Compatibility

Please note that Wooclap only integrates with the PowerPoint version 15 (2013) Windows and Online and with the version 16 (2016) with the Office subscription. The version 16 on Windows and Mac may work but Wooclap cannot guarantee it. Neither can Wooclap guarantee that the other versions of PowerPoint will work correctly with the add-in. In case you are unable to add Wooclap to PowerPoint, we advise you to insert the link to the Wooclap event in your PowerPoint presentation and work from there.

How do I check my version of PowerPoint?

Inbox - a.sahin@sea.leidenuniv.nl - Outlook

  1. Open PowerPoint and click on Account
  2. Click on About PowerPoint
  3. Look for the number between the brackets.

The first number before the period indicates the version you are on, in this case, version 16 on Windows.

In this case Wooclap may not work within this version of PowerPoint, since they only support desktop version 15 on Windows.
