Room facilities

Updated on

In this section, we will discuss the different room facilities (webcam, fixed camera, media site) and their capabilities. Click on the different headings to learn more about each type of room facility.

1. Webcam

What is present in the room?

  • A mobile webcam with a built-in microphone attached to a tripod.
  • A USB cable that can be connected to the fixed PC or your own laptop. Preferably use the room's PC to ensure quality.
  • Choose a good spot for the webcam in the room. After the session, place the webcam visible at the side of the room.

An echo may occur when the PC audio is audible through the speakers and other meeting participants are speaking. Therefore, turn off the microphone when another participant of the online meeting is speaking.

2. Fixed Camera System

What is in the room?

  • A fixed camera with a ceiling mounted microphone. Attention! This camera is aimed at a fixed point. The cameras are not intended to be touched or adjusted.
  • Use the room PC. The camera is connected to this by default. This is also better for the internet connection. Download and share your presentation on the room PC.

An echo may occur when the PC audio is audible through the speakers and other meeting participants are speaking. Therefore, turn off the microphone when another participant of the online meeting is speaking.

3. Mediasite Recorder

What is present in the room?

  • A Mediasite recorder.
  • Pick up a microphone and transmitter at the reception desk. Make sure the microphone is on and not mute. You can adjust this by the slide on top of the transmitter.
  • If you don't want to use a Mediasite recorder, you can pick up a webcam. See in the diagram below where this can be done.

Note: When you are in Huygens Sitter Hall or Huygens 211-214, take the microphone off mute through the display. You can tell if the microphone is working if you speak into the microphone and if you hear yourself back via the speakers in the room. In Huygens 211-214, the display must be turned on first, even if you are not using PowerPoint.

Are you using an Apple laptop? Then use the VGA connection, otherwise the presentation slides will show green in the live stream and recording.

4. No provision

What is present in the room?

  • There is nothing available in the room.
  • Alternatively, you can pick up a webcam at the front desk. See the overview for where you can pick up a webcam.

On the next page you can read which application is best to use for recordings and livestreams.
