Publishing video's with attachments

This manual explains how you can publish video's with attachments. You begin by uploading a video to Kaltura, and you continue using SURFsharekit.

Kaltura (video portal)

  1. Go to https://video.leidenuniv.nl
  2. Log in using your ULCN credentials.
  3. Upload the video you want to attach something to.
  1. Add the relevant metadata to the video (only the tab 'Details')
    • Creative Commons license. Make sure not to use CC0 public domain.
    • Fill in the title ('Name')
    • Fill in the Description
    • Add additional details as available and intended.
    • Lastly, select upload the intended attachment file under the tab 'Attachments'. Please refer to the second image below. 

Uploading an attachment:

  1. Publish the video. You do this by selecting either the Unlisted or Published publishing status under the tab 'Publish'.
  2. Copy the link of the now-published video (see the second image below).
  3. Continue to SURFsharekit.

Surfsharekit (SSK)

  1. Navigate to https://surfsharekit.nl/login.
  2. Log in using your SURFsharekit credentials.
  3. Start a new publication.
    1. At step 1, select the right organisation.
    2. At step 2, select 'learning material'.
  1. Select 'Add link' and copy the URL as copied from Kaltura.
    1. Make sure to tick the box under 'Important', as seen below.
  1. Upload the relevant file(s).
    1. You do not need to add an embargo date.
  1. Add metadata for the entire publication.
    1. You can opt to (partially) use the metadata as added in Kaltura during previous steps.
    2. Make sure to add the author(s)
      1. For new authors, select the option 'Manual'
  2. Under step 3 - Channels, publish to edusources by making sure the slide is set to the appropriate option.
  1. Wait for the final approval by the faculty site manager (Teacher Support Desk).
  2. Review the findability of your uploaded material in Edusources.
