Does Schoolyear work on private Chromebooks?

Updated on

Because Chromebooks have a kiosk mode, a Chromebook is suitable for using Schoolyear. However, Google only allows kiosk mode on managed laptops. Other Chromebooks, such as students' private Chromebooks, do not have access to this mode, which means that these laptops cannot enter the secure environment of Schoolyear.

It is therefore not possible to use Schoolyear's security features on a private Chromebook. Students who bring their own Chromebook to a Bring Your Own Device (BYOD) examination will therefore not be able to take the examination securely.

The student can request a loan laptop from the university in order to be able to take the tests securely in the future.
