Question bank components

Would you like to know what an item bank is and what it is used for? Click here.

A question bank consists of the following components:

  • Exercise
  • Question bank assignment
  • Learning objectives
  • Staff
  • Settings

Depending on your rights, you can perform various actions within these sections. Want to know more about what is possible? See the Ans manual on managing question banks.

Please note: only functional administrators can create question banks. Contact the functional administrator of your faculty to register other colleagues.

Working together on a question bank

You can collaborate with various colleagues on a question bank, both within your own department and with colleagues from other faculties or even other universities! Want to know more? See the Ans manual on how to add colleagues to a question bank.

Question bank settings

Access to question banks linked to training courses

Access to a question bank is determined on the basis of study programmes. A department administrator only has access to a question bank if that item bank is explicitly linked to a study programme within his or her department. Item bank visibility is therefore no longer dependent on individual lecturers or courses, but exclusively on the study programme(s) to which the item bank is linked.

What should I do?

Check that all question banks are correctly linked to the right courses. This ensures that department administrators retain access to the relevant question banks even after the change.

Tip: You can find the links in the settings for each question bank. Add one or more courses there to activate access for the relevant department administrators.

How do I link an question bank to a course?
  1. Go to the Ans environment.
  2. Select the question bank.
  3. Go to settings and select general in the left-hand menu.

4. By clicking in the bar under studies, you can assign the course. You can find the course faster by typing in the bar.

5. Once you have linked the course, click on update.

6. The course is now linked to the question bank.

Question bank log

An question bank task log provides insight into the changes that have been made to a task, such as when a task has been deleted or restored, or when a user has been added or removed. Want to know more? See this Ans manual on how to access the question bank log.
