ANS has three environments: the production environment, the internship environment and the education environment. As a teacher you will work mainly with the production environment and the education environment.
- Production environment: in this environment you can develop and manage assignments, questions, tests and question banks. In this environment you develop tests for final use.
- Stage environment: in this environment new releases, or updates to ANS, are tried out. As a user, this is not relevant for everyday use.
- Education environment: in this environment you as a user can practice with ANS. You can practice creating tests, developing question banks and managing questions. To access this environment you need to create your own account. See this manual for more information. End-use tests are always created in the production environment.
In the education environment you can try out new features, practice developing tests and manage question banks in ANS. Please note that to use the education environment, the user must have the role of publisher. Want to know more? See our guide on roles.
Please note that the education environment is for practice with ANS only. Tests for end use should always be created in the production environment. Want to know more about the different environments and their functions? See here.

Functional management
Some operations may only be performed by functional administrators. When an action must be performed by a functional administrator, this is always clearly indicated. In that case, contact the functional administrator of your faculty.
ANS education environment
The functional administrator signs up users on the education environment. When you are signed up, you will receive an email on your work email with an invitation. The invitation allows you to create an account for the education environment. Did you not receive an invitation? If so, contact your faculty functional administrator.
Please Note: You can request an account for the ANS education environment from your faculty's functional administrator. After your request, you will receive an invitation email from the faculty functional administrator. If not, please contact the functional administrator.

A link exists between uSis and ANS. Changes made in uSis are automatically reflected in ANS. Think of course scheduling and the registration and de-registration of students. Want to know more? See here for more information on how the link works.
Please note that subject coordinators enrolled in uSis are assigned the role of teacher in Ans. When the course coordinator is changed in uSis, the original coordinator will remain in Ans as a tutor. Therefore, always report changes to the functional administrator of your faculty.
ANS Usage
Subject coordinators are automatically registered as teachers on ANS through the link with uSis. As a teacher, you have the ability to add other staff members to the course and assign different roles. For support, please contact the functional administrator of your faculty.
When giving names to courses, question banks and tests, a number of characters are not allowed. These are the following characters:
~ ` @ # $ ! % ^ & * ( ) _ - + = ¤ € [ ] { } \ | : ; ' " , . / ?
If the characters occur in the given name, the course, question bank or test is not created.
When an account is blocked, it often has to do with enrollment status. Check the student's enrollment status in uSis. Then contact your faculty's functional administrator.
A faculty functional administrator creates an question bank. You can contact the functional administrator here. After the functional administrator creates the question bank, you are assigned the role of publisher. From this role, you can manage the question banks. Do you want to collaborate with colleagues? Then you must assign the colleague in question the role of author or publisher. Want to know more? See here.
Want to know more about question banks? See here.

By anonymising the results, they can no longer be traced back to specific students. This happens automatically after two years, regardless of whether a test is active or archived. Names, student answers, discussions, assessments, files and log files are deleted. Only the reports with question and test insights (psychometric data) remain available.
By deleting the results, it is no longer possible to analyse them. This happens automatically after seven years, regardless of whether a test is active or archived. The question and test insight reports (psychometric data) will then no longer be available. Only the test composition and test settings will remain available.
