'Migrators' have appeared on my classlist in Blackboard. Who are they and what are their rights?

Due to the transition to Brightspace on September 2020, members of the Migration team have been added to many courses in Blackboard. These members are visible in the Classlist as Migrators. Even if the lecturers choose to perform the migration themselves, these Migrators are added to the course. The Migrator role is necessary to see and migrate the content. Migrators have no access student information, fi; student grades and submitted assignments. All according to the GDPR regulations.

Students might see these colleagues as 'Instructor' on the classlist. Migrators fall within the category of instructors, but do not have the same rights.

All migrators are employees of the Leiden University and therefore have the same duties concerning confidentiality. Furthermore they have signed an additional Non-Disclosure Agreement.

What will migrators do in my course?

If you have asked the central migration team to migrate the course for you, the migrators will download content, such as lecture slides, from the Blackboard course and upload this in the Brightspace course. They will copy settings for assignments, groups and other functionalities to Brightspace. They are able to see the Grade Settings, not the student grades themselves.
