Try to make the formula using this information. Click on Tips for help, or Answer for the solution

Assesments, type and weight

  • 1 Essay, numerical, 40%
  • 1 Peer review, numerical, 20%
  • 1 Assignment,  numerical, 20%
  • 1 Presentation,  numerical, 20%
  • 1 Report, Pass/Fail, 0%
  • 1 Mentorship, Pass/Fail, 0%

Minimum requirements and conditions

  • Report and Mentorship both have to be a Pass.
  • Essay and assignment > 5.5
  • Peer Review and Presentation > 1
TIPS
  1. The are some conditions that need to be sufficed, so we need an IF statement.
    • = IF { (CONDITION), TRUE, FALSE}
  2. CONDITION:
    • Report and Mentorship have to be sufficient-> So Pass. AND;
    • Essay and Opdracht > 5.5, AND;
    • Peer Review and Presentatie > 1
  3. TRUE: If a student meets these conditions: Essay*0.4 + Assignment * 0.2 + Peer Review * 0.2 + Presentation * 0.2.
  4. FALSE: Final grade = 0

You could also use the MIN function!

ANSWER

IF{ (((([Report.Points Received] > 5) AND ([Mentorship.Points Received] > 5)) AND (([Essay .Points Received] >= 5.5) AND ([Assignment Points Received] >= 5.5))) AND (([Peer review.Points Received] >= 1) AND ([Presentation.Points Received] >= 1))), (((([Essay.Points Received] * 0.4) + ([Peer review.Points Received] * 0.2)) + ([Assignment.Points Received] * 0.2)) + ([Presentation.Points Received] * 0.2)), 0 }

  • IF Report and Mentorship both PASS , and Essay and Presentation >= 5.5 and Peer Review and Assignment >= 1
  • then the final grade is: Essay *0.4 + Presentation * 0.2 + Peer Review * 0.2 + Assignment * 0.2
  • else, the student recieves a 0 (which is represented as 1 by the scheme)
Step 8: Enter grades and check

Enter grades for one or two test students and check the calculations.
