How do I log into Brightspace?

Brightspace is available on your computer, tablet and smartphone. Use your ULCN-account to log in.
Start the browser and go to brightspace.universiteitleiden.nl, u-access login appears.
Fill in your ULCN username and password and click Login.
In the next screen choose your preferred authentication method.
Please note, if you did not set any authentication preferences you can only choose Code by Email. The temporary code will be sent to your private/external email.
Push notification by NetIQ App
Open the NetIQ app, click on Accept and you will login!
Code by Email
- Check your personal/external email inbox for the code.
- Enter the code
Click on Next and you will login!
Multi Factor Authentication on Brightspace for staff members

Please note that Multi Factor Authentication is not yet required for students and guest students to login to Brightspace.
As of March 22, 2021, Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) applies to employees, including instructors, student-assistants and support staff, and guest lecturers within Brightspace. This means authentication is required for every login. Please set up your authentication information through Leiden University account services: https://account.services.universiteitleiden.nl/idmdash/#/landing
Click on the tile "Multi-Factor Authentication"
You can choose to set one or more authentication methods. We recommend using the NetIQ Smartphone app for the most user-friendly login.

Take note: As of 01-01-2020 Internet Explorer is no longer supported by Brightspace supplier D2L, which means you can no longer log in using that browser. Please use Chrome, Firefox or any other browser to log in.
